Today's prompt is to write about a song (the prompt called it a piece of music)that changed your life. It mentions writng about how it makes you feel now.

I've certainly had life changing moments. There have been people who've changed my life. I've read books that changed my life. But a song? Don't get me wrong. I LOVE music. It's just that I guess I've always thought of it as a way of expressing or emphasizing the way I was feeling at any given moment. So while I wouldn't say a song has changed my life, there are songs I associate with the things I've lived through. Perhaps my favorite is "Angel Lullaby" by Richard Marx. It touched my heart from the first time I heard it because it said so perfectly how I felt about being a parent. I loved it so much I used it in a montage of the boys. (Please note: I've posted this before but I thought I'd put it here again since I'm talking about it.) I've watched that video so many times I can see it perfectly in my mind just listening to the song. Whether I watch the video or just hear the song now, it always makes me cry, especially the lines "I'll never catch all those memories I'm chasing, never be ready to let go."

My Favorite Place

Today's NaNoBloMo prompt is:

Describe a favorite place, Focus on how that place afects your sense of taste, touch, sight, sound, or smell.

Over the past summer, I realized that one of my favorite places was the lake. I took the boys fishing but mostly? I'd just sit and relax. The air is fresh and cooler there. The breeze bears the smell of the water. I can't describe that smell, but anyone who's experienced it knows what I mean. There's something so peaceful about it that even the boys were quieter and got along better there. Well, usually. I think it's the visual beauty surrounding us there combined with the quiet sounds of waves lapping at the shore and birds as they fly overhead. It all comes together to make it a favorite place of mine.

Cory was The Crow and went trick or treating with friends. Jay was Freddie Krueger and Logan was Scream. The beautiful Kitty is my niece Brittanie. I have no pics of Ty because he didn't want to go since his girlfriend wasn't allowed to. Sigh...the teen years.

ETA: Please enjoy the fierce look. He's really not mad. The doctor noted his football jersey and pretended to think he'd been injured in a big game so that's the look he was going for. He loved every minute of it! Well, that and the 2 (yes, 2) "very hot looking" nurses fawning over him. No one senses Cory's influence there, right? ;)

I know I did pictures yesterday but I'm not feeling the best so it's what you're going to get. These are our traditional fall pics. I'm showing you my favorite group shot and individual shot of each of the boys. Really, though, most didn't come out very well technically. They always seemed to be blurry or the lighting was way off. I'm hoping to try again but we'll see. Anyway, enjoy!

More Holiday Fun

It was a nice Christmas. The boys have been SO well behaved, even now. They're playing together nicely and have just been fun to be around. All of them. I love it! I took a lot of pics but not a lot turned out that well. Still, I thought I'd share one of each boy with a present.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Ok, so maybe I was just kidding around with the title of the post. Maybe. A little. We did the traditional group shots as well (one "real" shot and one goofy one). I am not impressed with any of the pics this year actually. I love my boys and they are handsome and photogenic when they want to be. But this year? Cory was making funny faces in all of them, Ty's hair needed brushed, J pouted in a lot of them, and L's shirt was wet, which I didn't notice until later. I swear. So leave me alone, ok? He's also NOT wearing his backpack. Which is hysterically ironic because now? Every day since? It goes on directly after his clothes and stays on. It's on before he eats, brushes his teeth, or even puts his shoes on. Sigh. Whatever! LOL.
